The Mission of Sacred Heart School is to promote the spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical development of all students in a nurturing environment so that they will have the skills and values necessary to develop into responsible citizens.
Each School day begins at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m. with an additional after school care program being provided for students of working parents until 5:30 p.m. The Pre-K3 through Kindergarten are self-contained. There is some departmentalization in grades 1 through 6. Pre-K3 through Kindergarten use a nine-week grading period while grades 1 through 6 use a six-week grading period.
Following the guidelines of the Texas Education Agency and T.C.C.E.D., Sacred Heart School offers a strong academic program in the areas of math, language arts, science, social studies, computer, music, physical education, and art at all grade levels. Students also have the opportunity to compete in academic events sponsored by the University Interscholastic League for private schools. Religious education is offered daily and extends into all other areas of the curriculum to instill high moral standards, to nourish a cooperative attitude among students,and to enhance the overall development of the whole Christian person. Students attend Mass once a week and also assist in preparing and performing parts of the liturgy. Library services are provided on a weekly basis. The student to teacher ratio is approximately 15:1. Standardized achievement test are administered to all students K-6.
The Sacred Heart Parent-Teacher Club, the P.T.C., establishes a closer bond between the school and the family. It helps provide support for the school through many projects. Parents also volunteer their services as field trip chaperones and room mothers. This provides parents many opportunities for involvement in their child's education.
